We how have a brand spankin’ new kindergardener!!!
We walked him to his school this morning. The playground was packed with kids and parents. It was so packed that the kids couldn’t even really play and meet up with their friends. We got there at 8:45 so the teachers were already out there looking for their kids. Our class finally got together and we all marched to the building and into the classroom.
The first thing in order was finding their name in their cubbies. Then they had to go find their name on the table where they will be sitting.
Not a problem for Diego. He knew one kid from his table since he was in the other pre-k class from last year. Otherwise, the other four kids were new to him.
I have to confess: I did cry. The funny thing is that I didn’t even feel like crying at all. It happened when his teacher said it was time for the parents to go home. Diego got up from his chair and gave us a big hug. That is when I lost it. I am such a sap. 😛
When I picked him up from afterschool care, he was very happy. He seemed to have had a great day. He was full of information and easily shared. Unlike last year which it felt like pulling teeth for him to tell us. I hope that continues for the rest of the year.
And as for Mia, she started crying when we all left. I felt so bad for her. She is going to miss her big brother for sure.
It was that time of year again when we go apple picking at Apple Holler. We were checking all last week and this week to see if the Honey Crisp apples were ready for pickin’. Eric called and sure enough, they were.

We couldn’t have asked for a better day. The weather was fantastic: sunny with puffy white clouds. In the 60’s, probably 70’s in the sun. Not windy at all.
And of course after we picked and stuffed ourselves with the apples, we did the tractor ride, all the kiddie activities (go carts [Diego by himself this year!!!], the train ride, pony ride [only Diego] and the playground), and the petting zoo. They always have so much fun that Diego will be asking random times during the year if we can go apple picking.
And as always, I can’t wait for next year!
