he’s six…

Happy 6th Birthday Diego!!!

Birthday Boy

Let’s see:
height 44 1/2 inches
weight 47 lbs

Only one doctor’s visit between get well visits (he had his first ever ear infection in February), he is in great health. Let’s keep it that way.

I can’t believe he is six already. He is becoming such a great boy. He loves his sports, loves school and loves his little sister. Before you know it, he will be in college. *sigh* Must not think about it.

I love you very much Diego. Keep being who you are.

arrrrr…

One word: Patching.

arrrr

Well, he has to have his eye patched for four hours a day until his next appointment which will be August 1.  It seems that his amblyopia (aka lazy eye) is very minimal at this time.  I was watching the doctor trying to get his eye to “jump” but it was very sporadic. It was interesting how she was doing it too.   Well keeping my fingers crossed that this will work and his eyes will align the way they should.

The hard part will be getting him to wear it.  Good thing he does not have to wear it for the four hours consecutively.  But he does need to be wearing it while reading or coloring or any activity that will make him focus.  Watching TV is not an option.  Bummer.

Another thing: Do you know how hard is it to find adhesive eye patches? And how expensive they are?  I found some on Amazon with free shipping.  Hopefully, they will fit. *sigh*

Wish us luck!

potty…

Just potty since we haven’t starting the training yet. But I think Mia is this/close for it though.

Mia has been showing interest in using the potty lately. She has been showing the normal signs. The good thing is that when Diego’s, she does too. I am not ready to start the full on training but when she asks to use the potty, she will be catered. Not going to say no. :)

So for the past week or so, she has done number 1 three times in the potty. I think it shocks her the fact that she can do something like that. Today was a much bigger shock: she managed to go number 2. Diego, me and Mia were just staring at the potty like OMG. It was awesome. We did high fives and Way to Go’s. After the shock wore off, she was very proud of herself. We dumped in the toilet and had her do the honors of flushing. We all said “bye-bye” as it flushed away.

If she continues to ask to go to the potty/toilet, we will help her out. I only have one more box of diapers. And that is it. Then we move on to Pull Ups and full on potty training. Mia is growing up. How is that even possible? ;)

happy easter…

My yearly post for Easter. This year we had help dying the eggs so they weren’t as bright as normal. (Having an almost six year old, a six year old and a 2 year old helping out just throws out the control freak out the window. They win.) But this year, I did include their names too.

Happy Easter

So from us to you: Happy Easter!!!

Easter Buddies

And we miss you papa!!

hibernation is over…

I ran yesterday. It was dark, cold, rainy (misty really but still) and windy. But I did it. Well, I was kinda guilted into running by my friend but I still did it.

Two laps around the athletic fields. I almost told my friend to cut the second lap in half but I sucked it up.

Today, my legs feel like mush. Not too bad though. I need to wake up those running muscles.

1.7 miles in 19:33 min -> It is something. Must.do.it.again!
