Diego Graduated…
From Pre-K!!! I can’t believe it has been 9 months since he started Pre-K and now he is moving on to KINDERGARDEN. He had so much fun. We love Mrs. Brown. She rocks room 105.
Today, Diego’s class did their end of the year celebration. They did a play “The Very Busy Spider” and the kids moving on to kinder were presented with certificates.
The play was super-duper adorable!!! There were 10 kids moving to kinder so they had all the speaking parts. The rest of the class were the band.
I really need to upload the video of the play but it’s about 20 min long. Diego was the owl. He “flew” into the area while hooting at the same time. He said his first line, sang the Itsy Bitsy Spider (although, he says it Ipsy Bipsy Spider) and then he said his last line. I got all teary eyed. I was so proud of him. *sigh*
The kids did really, really well. Mrs. Brown narrated the story and cued the kids. I was very, very impressed. Even the insect band was so cute and adorable.
Once the play was over, the future Kindergardeners went outside the room to get ready. They had made graduation caps which is what they were wearing when they came back into the room. Mrs. Brown made a speech and then presented everyone with their certificates. It was just really, really sweet.
Once the presentation was over, we headed to the cafe and had some food. All the kids had so much fun. What a wonderful way to end the school year.

13 Years…
Wow! Happy Anniversary Eric. I love you!
It has been a great year. Thanks for all you do.
18th Month Appointment…
Finally, we took Mia for her 18 month get well visit. She gained weight and she did grow.
weight 21 lb 8 oz (10%)
length 32 3/4 in (75%)
head circ 18 1/4 (40%)
Still tall and lean. Doing well. Only concern (but a only a little): she is not really saying much. The only words she really says are Mama, Papa, Hi, Bye, Stop it, ta-da, Go, (Die)go, No. We are just going to keep an ear on her vocabulary for the next six months. But she does a lot of baby talk and she points and stuff so not a big worry at the moment.
She got three shots. I missed them this time around because I had to run to the washroom so by the time I got back, it was over. Poor kiddo.
She goes back in 6 months.
And earlier in the day, she had her first dentist’s appointment which did not go well. Eric had to hold her legs with his legs, wrap his arm around her arms and had to use his free arm to help keep her head from moving while her teeth were being cleaned. She cried for the whole exam. I am so glad I wasn’t there. I think I would have freaked. BUT she did not have any cavities which was worth the visit. She just had a lot of build up. She did get a Dora sticker.
I think she goes back to the dentist in 6 months.
And Diego did go to the dentist as well. Perfect set of teeth. Perfect patient. Just my perfect little guy. (Couldn’t help adding that since this post is more about Mia than Diego.)
Cub Family…
We went to Wrigley Field for the first time this year (hopefully not the last). It was Mia’s first trip there.
It was Cubs vs Pirates. Unfortunately, they lost 4-3 but they almost rallied at the end. We had a good time anyway. Mia was very good and so was Diego. Of course by the 7th inning, they started: Diego was like “when is it over?” and Mia was missing her nap so she started to get cranky. But we all survived the game and we all left happy. It did help that it was Build-A-Bear Day. The bears were adorable as always.
Softball Widow…
And it begins. Again. Tuesday night softball league starts today. It ends somewhere in August. Wheeeeee!
ETA: Game was cancelled tonight. It was/has been raining since last night so the fields are probably mush. I guess my widow status will wait another week.
Happy Mama’s Day…
I had a wonderful day. See?
Diego made me a jewelery box and a bracelet at school. He also made me a card. Love it and it made me tear up. I also got an Edible Arrangement from Mia & Diego. Yummy! I <3 them plus I get to share with my peeps.
After opening my gifts, we went to eat a Stanley’s. They have a great brunch on Sunday’s. They had made-to-order omelets, fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, buscuits and gravy, waffles, fruit toppings, sausage, bacon, mmmm I could just go on but now I am hungry.
I hope everyone had a great Mother’s Day. Smooches!
A Star Is Born…
Diego had his first theater experience and he enjoyed it. The Pre-K classrooms at his school had a musical: Goldilocks and the Three Bears. He was the Papa Bear and his line was “Who has been sitting and wiggling in my great big chair?” He was just so adorable! He was very determined to say his line just right and he did.
There were three classrooms participating and just the kids who are going to kindergarden had the speaking parts. And to be fair, there were three kids for each line in the play.
I think I see a future movie star.
Pre-K Pictures Part 2…
Well it turns out that they take spring school pictures in the spring. Heh, go figure?
They don’t use these one in the yearbook or class picture so they are more for fun. He looks so cute. He even kept his glasses on. (I did tell him he can take them off if he wanted to but he didn’t.)
So I will probably order wallets or something. The pictures are too cute to pass. They sure know how to sucker parents.
Trip To The Moon…
I know I hardly ever write about Diego and his school. Diego is progressing very nicely. He knows most of his site words (I, said, when, he, she, etc) and his writing is getting better every day. I just have to thank his teacher and her assistants. They are wonderful.
Any who, back to the title of this post. Eric received the following from Diego’s teacher who he was nice to forward to me:
Everything is really great in Room 105. I hear that you are going on the field trip with us. Diego is very excited. Today, L…, J…, and Diego built this wonderful space ship and spent most of the morning on Moon. So, he might be a bit tired this evening. (Smile) They were so detailed about this project in the block center. I took pictures, so I will share.
It just made me go awwwww. I can’t wait for his teacher to share pictures.
