Almost Out of Here…

My vacation should start to day at 3 pm.  I have been waiting for this since February.  We still need to pack but we are not taking too much stuff so I think it will be okay.

Disney World, here we come!!!

We will be back December 2.  I am so giddy.  I hope to post pictures during my vacation but can’t guarantee anything. 🙂

Belated Thank You’s…

Confession:  I just mailed out Diego’s thank you cards today.  His birthday parties were almost 3 months ago.  *blush*

I have lots of valid excuses (pictures were taken late, training for 1/2 marathon, gallbladder problems) but I am so glad I have finished them.  Okay, I only have four more to go but I ran out of thank you cards.  I will finish them tonight.  Yay!

Festival of Lights ’07…

It is beginning to look like Christmas…

It was a cold and blustery night. It was slightly drizzling. But that not keep us away from attending the annual Festival of Lights parade. It was us three, Maggie and her boyfriend Eddie. We were all huddling to we can keep warm.

We were at the end of the route. I *heart* that area because 1) there isn’t that many people, 2) we are right in front of the fireworks and 3) we a few blocks away from the parking garage which makes a quick getaway.

The bad thing about being at the end is we have to wait a good 45 minutes before the parade gets there. But we still have fun waiting.. Eddie was not properly dressed which I had told Maggie to dress warmly. Men!

Finally we saw the parade cross the Michigan Ave. bridge and a few minutes we saw Mickey. How exciting!!! Diego was waving to anyone. He really enjoyed it. Besides Mickey, we saw Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Pluto, Chip and Dale. There was helium snowflakes and ornaments. There were a couple of bands (one of them was UIC‘s). And there was even Corbin Blue from High School Musical was there (haven’t seen these movies yet but you should have seen the teeny boppers and their moms screaming at him).

The parade hadn’t even finished when the fireworks went off. They had some really cool fireworks these year. Finally Santa came by. Diego waved and waved. Got to love it! The fireworks finished and it was time to get out of the cold and back home.

Only 7 more days until our Disney Vacation. 🙂

No Restrictions…

That is what my surgeon said to me at my post-op appointment this morning. I am so happy this is over. I can go back to my normal routine. =) And now really looking forward my vacation in a few weeks.

He did ask me about my arm (it is still sore at the joint but only when I fully extend it). He is not too worried. He asked me about my tongue’s numbness (there is still a spot where I feel tingly). He said it is caused by the tubes they inserted down my throat. I kinda figured that since it feels like a hot coffee burn. It doesn’t bother me as much but I truly hope it goes away soon. He did say to call him if anything comes up. I have his number. =)

I apparently I was the second patient to have NOTES (Natural Orifice Translumenal Endoscopic Surgery) done at Northwestern Memorial Hospital . They are currently looking for their third patient. It is an awesome feeling to know that you are helping the medical world to advance. Yay me! =P

Sick, Sick, Sick…

We are now all officially sick.  I started last week Tuesday, Diego started on Thursday and Eric got sick this weekend.  I am feeling better and so is Diego.  Eric is of course miserable but before he knows it, he will be okay.

I am glad we all got sick before we go on vacation.  I am also secretly happy (although Eric already knows this) that Eric got sick too.  All last week I was bugging him if I could purposely get him sick so he can get it now vs. later and possibly be sick during vacation.  He thinks that I licked his toothbrush and that is why he is sick.  Hee hee!

Only 12 more days until Disney World!!!

Thomas Troubles Ahead…

Last weekend we stopped at Toys R Us and decided to buy Diego some Take Along Thomas the Engine Play Sets. They are the ones with the plastic tracks but die cast trains. And you can store trains and the tracks within each building which is a plus.

We got him the Roundhouse Playset, the Sawmill Playset, and a few trains. He loved them. He has been playing with them then since Monday.

So I went online today and found AllAboardToys.com store. Tons of Thomas stuff. So of course more impulse shopping. I got him the Working Hard Playset, the Gantry Crane, a play mat, extra tracks and some more trains. We will probably save the Working Hard play set for Christmas.

I am in so much trouble. I can see this being the beginning of addiction. =)

Getting Better…

My throat is not as sore as it was yesterday.  I still gag a bit and I cannot speak loudly yet.  My arm is still sore but it is also on it way to healing.  My belly doesn’t hurt much either.  On occasion I will feel  a slight cramp but it goes away quickly.

My post op appointment is November 13 at 8:15.  I can’t wait until this is over!

Back Home…

Well, I did have to spend the night at the hospital. I was discharged at 3:30 and got home before 4 pm. I was so happy to see Diego. I missed him a lot.

The surgery went well. I have two small cuts on my belly. My throat is very sorry and I really can’t speak a lot because I start gagging a bit. My right arm is also very sore. Not sure what happened there. They did take some x-rays to make sure nothing was wrong. The orthopedist came by and told me that it is probably it was just a small blood clot and eventually will go away. Just make sure to keep my arm elevated and iced. I can’t pick up anything over 10 pounds which really sucks because I can’t carry Diego for about 2 weeks.

I had a good welcome home. My parents came home with some fajitas, my brother brought me some chicken noodle soup and my in-laws brought some beef stew. We now have food for the rest of the week and weekend.

My stomach is not bothering me much. I guess that is a good thing. I can’t wait to feel better and be able to the stuff I was doing before this happened. But at least I will no longer have another gallbladder attack ever again. Yay!
