Happy Halloween!

As you can see Diego was a vampire and Mia was a witch.  Cuteness all around.  🙂

We had a busy Halloween evening.  We went to the neighborhood stores for some trick or treating.  The popcorn place gave popcorn.  Jamba Juice made small smoothies for the kids.  Awesome!!! I wish the association would organize all of the merchants to have a set time for this.  I was worried that the stores wouldn’t be prepared but only two (the bars) didn’t seem to have anything for the kids.

But anywhoo, we went home to drop off the loot and take a breather (I was sweating).  Then we went to the Halloween party.  There was pizza, snacks, adult and kid beverages.  The kids were watching a movie to keep them from getting antsy.  Once the movie and party was over, off we went trick or treating.  There was about eight parents and a huge group of kids.  Seriously, this is the way to go.  Everyone keeps an eye on all the kids.  The kids made out with lots of goodies.  Which make mom and dad happy. 😉

I can’t for next year. We are already planning what our costumes might be since Eric and I want to dress up as well. Diego already said he wanted to be Harry Potter. We shall see.  We have another 365 days to figure it out.

Happy Halloween…

It was cold and windy.  No rain so it was fantastic.  We were invited to a Halloween party so that is where we started.  Well, Diego and I went ahead first.  Mia hadn’t taken a nap so Eric stayed at home with her.  It was a fun time.  We had food and the kids watched Ice Age.  At 5:30, we went trick or treating.  Well, Diego did.  Mia just stayed in the stroller.  I was sad because no one really saw her costume but I guarantee she looked cute.  Here are some pictures I did take:

This is Eric’s first carved pumpkin he ever did:

I have to say, I was impressed.  Lots of sketches were done until this one was declared the winner.

Not the best pictures but this is the best I can do.  It is hard to have them look at the camera at the same time. 🙂

Pumpkins In the Park…

We had a fun run at Lincoln Park on Saturday. It was the Pumpkins In The Park 5K. Anyone could dress up if they wanted to. I wore my Mickey Sorcerer ears that I got 7 years ago. Diego got to wear his giraffe costume. We had a hard time keeping it on him since it is very warm and fussy. Eric came as a runner. =) We barely arrived in time for the Kids Spooky Sprints.

I lined Diego up with the other 2 year olds. I was telling he needed to run towards Papa. Eric was at the finish line by then and waved to make sure he got Diego’s attention. Diego knew where he was. So they blew the air horn and Diego took off. He easily won his sprint. He looked really adorable running. Check out the video of Diego’s Sprint. The problem was the once he got to the finish line, he did not run towards Papa like we hoped, he just kept going. I was running right behind him. Fortunately, another parent saw what was happening, he was able to reach out and stop him. What a kid!

All the little kids got a medal which is really cute. It is the logo of the race. Of course he wore it proudly for about 5 minutes and then wanted to remove his costume.

So then the adults got ready for the 5K. I had the honor of pushing Diego in the stroller. There was a lot of runners and it was a small path were we had to start. Once the air horn blew, we waited a bit so we can get in the line. It was a great run. It was overcast and in the low 60’s. There were a couple of bottlenecks but we survived. Eric ran his race in 32:20 and I ran in 34:26, which was really slow but I was pushing a jogging stroller. =)

Afterward, we got some water, Gatorade, bananas, apples and cheese pizza. We had some free beer coupons. Eric happily went to get the beer. We stuck around for a bit. There were lots of families with their young kids like us. We are definitely going to participate again next year. It was such a great party.

Diego the Giraffe…

I am so excited today. I got Diego’s new costume in the mail today. The minute he saw it, he wanted to wear it. But after a few minutes, he got hot really fast. So he was trying to take it off hence the pitiful look on his face. Poor kid! He barely stood still so I can take the picture.

I can’t wait for the Halloween festivities to begin. Yay!!

Early Trick or Treating..

So we headed out to Cudahy, WI on Sunday.  We went t&ting.  It was much fun although Diego really did not know what was going on.  He occasionally said bye and waved his hand but nothing else.  I guess you can’t do much when you are sitting in a stroller. 😆 He did really well.  His little pumpkin was filled up with goodies.  Hopefully on Halloween day, the weather won’t be too bad and we can take him around the ‘hood.

Happy October!!!

I know this is few days late but it is better late than never.

October 1 was a beautiful day.  It was in low 70s and sunny.  So we decided to go apple picking at Apple Holler.  It is about an hour north of Chicago. We had a great time. We had the breakfast buffet there. Diego really liked the cinnamon apple oatmeal. He couldn’t get enough. After breakfast, we went apple picking.  We rented a small wagon for Diego.  The best $2 ever spent.  We picked Golden Delicious, Red Delicious, Jonathons, and Northern Spys.  Afterward, Diego knocked out in the car on the way home.  It was a good day!
