On the Comeback Trail…

After three weeks of not running, I finally went.  Ran 2 miles in under 20 minutes.  It really felt good!  I just have to remember to ease back into this.  I am just worried that I will be sidelined even more if I have to have surgery.  I guess I will worry about that when I come to that bridge.

I can’t wait to go again tomorrow!

Training…

I have been seriously thinking about doing the half marathon.  Manda and I have come to an agreement:  We will train for the half marathon but we won’t sign up for it until September.  We need to see if we can run 10+ miles before we commit to the half marathon.  It just blows my mind on running for so long but I am going to try.

Softball – Week 6

After two back to back losses, they finally win. The score: 11-5. Not bad. They seem to play better today. A little bit aggressive but they were having fun. Lots of nail bitting and “what the %^$@?” moments but they came thru. Hope this is the beginning of something.

On the other hand, I wanted to run three miles while they were playing. I took the jogging stroller and was dressed to run but Diego did not want to do anything with it. He just wanted to watch the game and play ball. And that is what we did. 😛

13.1 miles…

This is how long a half marathon is. And this is what I am contemplating on doing in October. I know of a few ladies who are going to be doing the Indianapolis Marathon and I am debating to do the half. What I am thinking is start training for it and see how I am doing by September. If I think I can do it, I will sign up by September 12. I am just flipping out right now just thinking about it. 😯

I hope Manda does it because she owes me at least 5 miles. 😉

Run For The Zoo…

Here is my report for this morning’s race:

It was a beautiful morning! Cloudy up until I hit the finish line. We ran right thru the middle of Lincoln Park Zoo. It was a little crowded in parts of the zoo but I was able to manage to run thru it. My time was under 32 (or 33) minutes. 😯 I can’t remember which because I was so focused on crossing the line before the timer hit 32(33):00, that I truly can’t remember the time. I want to say under 32 min though. I will check tomorrow for my official time (we were wearing championchips).

ETA on June 5: I finally checked to see my official time. 31:31!!! OMG! I can’t believe it!!! Yay!!!

Afterwards, Diego ran his Kangaroo Hop race. Came in last! But he got a really cute medal so it was worth it. 🙂

Corporate Challenge Report…

It has arrived and gone by. If you remember, my goal was to run it under 40 minutes. Guess what? I ran it under 36 minutes. 😯 That was a shocker to me. The official clock at the race was 36:55 minutes but since we had to keep our own time I adjusted accordingly. So it was more in the range of 35:52 minutes. I am just very proud of making this time. I will have to post pictures later. I am just too tired to do that right now. Night, night.

Running At Night…

Have you ever had that feeling that you need to do something before the day is over or else you regret that you did not do it? That was me tonight.

I was supposed to go running at the gym today during lunch. I was just plain lazy and did not do it. But right after I left for lunch I regretted not going.

For the rest of the day, I had the nagging feeling that I needed to go and take a run. But I was just making excuse why I should go running: it will be late, I need a shower, blah, blah & blah!

After Diego went to bed (about 8:30 pm), I told Eric I was going to go for a run. I put on my new running skirt (I needed to try it out), a t-shirt, iPod and out the door I went. I figured the safest route was down Halsted St. Click here to check out my route.

It was a fantastic night to run. Light breeze, cool temp and just a nice run overall. Almost 2.4 miles in 26 minutes.

Now I feel like I accomplished something and can go to sleep with no regrets. 🙂

Beautiful Saturday…

It was gorgeous today. It hit 76 degrees, sunny and clear. Our morning start early.

We went for a run. I ran about 2.6 miles and Eric ran/walked the 2.6 miles. Mostly ran but he stopped for a bit, but I want to add that he was pushing Diego on a jogging stroller and I wasn’t.

Afterwards, we went for a cool down walk. Went home and showered. After a while, Diego took a nap. We figured he was going to sleep for about 1 hour. Nope, he slept for almost three hours. 😯 He hasn’t done that in our presence in a long time. I was able to take an hour nap.

After he woke up, we went to the playground. Diego always has a good time. He like to play with the older kids, 3-5 year olds. Good thing they know him because they have patience with him.

Once we were done there, we walked to Cold Stone Creamery. I had the Berry Berry Berry Good and Eric had the Cookie Mintser. We shared with Diego and he loved it. He kept going from me to Eric back to me and so forth. 😀

After that, we walked around the neighborhood. We went into the UIC fields and watched the ending of the Women’s Softball game. The last swing of the game produced a three run home run. Very exciting!!

When we got home, we watched Blue’s Clues and Jack’s Big Music Show. Then Diego took a bath and off to bed he soon went.

It was a beautiful day and tomorrow it promises to be another (it supposed to hit 78 degrees).

Added Another Run…

Just signed up for the JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge. It a 3.5 mile race that takes place on the lake front. The first time I ran it was in 2002 and I ran it in 52:44. In 2003 I did it in 41:50. Not sure where I was in ’04, but I was pregnant in ’05 and just plain lazy in ’06. My goal is to run it in less than 40 minutes.

It will happen on May 24, 2007 at 7:10 pm. I am so excited!!!
