Corporate Challenge 09…

Well, it came and went.  The weather was great.  It was a wee bit too warm but it was better than last year: which was cold and windy.

My goal was to run it in 42 minutes.  Well, the good news is that I ran it in 38:18 minutes. The bad news it was slower than ’07 (35:52). At least it is over and I did it. The family was waiting for me at mile 3 so that was a nice surprise.

Afterwards, there was pizza, drinks and cookies. That was really nice of the company to provide. Hopefully next year, I’ll do better. Cheers!

Just so I don’t have to be looking for these next year:
2002 52:44
2003 41:50
2004 didn’t do it
2005 was pregnant
2006 didn’t do it
2007 35:52
2008 41:21

Started Again…

Running that is. I ran for a whole 20:25 today. It is probably under 2 miles. It is a start but it felt great. The Shamrock Shuffle is in two weeks and this is the first time since June 1 that I get my tush running. Hopefully tomorrow I am shooting for 30 min of non stop running but I would be happy with 20 again.

I hope I don’t get lazy and stop. I have something major to run in less than a year.

Yay Me…

I ran the Corporate Challenge today.  3.5 miles in 41:21.  Not bad for being almost 16 weeks along.  Last year, I ran this race in 35 plus minutes so it is not bad.  I ran the first two miles non-stop and then I walked for about 1:30 min.  Then I started running again and stopped when I saw the water station.  Once I finished my drink, I ran all the way to the end.  I am not a fast runner at all to begin with so my running was more like a slow jog.  I am very proud of myself.

Afterward, we went to the company’s tent to eat some delicious pizza.  Then we went home.  Night, night!

Shamrock Shuffle 2008…

Done!! A slower than last year but considering that I haven’t been running, I consider this a success. My official time was 1:00:13.

The weather was just a huge difference than last year. Last year it was sunny and warm. This year: it was cold, cloudy, windy and there was a brief snow shower. But we survived.

Oh yeah, I ran with Manda this year. Last year she couldn’t make it due to injury but she was healthy this year. We are just happy we finished it in one piece.

I hope she doesn’t mind but I am borrowing this picture of us.

Done!

Wacky 5K Run…

Well, it’s over. Not sure of the official time but I am guessing 33:35. Anything under 35 minutes in good in my book. Okay, so I survived this. Now lets get my booty back in running shape. 🙂

UPDATE: The official time: 32:38

Yippeeeee!! It is only a minute slower than my last 5K back in Sept. 07. I am doing my dance of joy. 🙂

So Cool…

I just read the Fleet Feet Sport’s newsletter today. They are giving the run down on the races they are sponsoring this year. Guess who’s picture made it in there??? Diego’s!!! He has a great smile as he is running towards the finish line. Here is the picture:

He is the one at the bottom dressed as a giraffe. Just in case you confuse him as the Elvis fellow. 😉

This is the picture that I keep meaning to order so I better do it soon.

Ran Today…

Gosh, I don’t even remember when the last time I ran was.  I think it was Oct. 20, my half marathon.  So I had all my stuff here at work and went down to the gym.  Ran 2 miles in 22 minutes.  With my 5 minute cool down, it was a total of 2.28 miles.  I really need to start running again because those were the two hardest miles I have ran in a long time. 🙂

Pumpkins In the Park…

We had a fun run at Lincoln Park on Saturday. It was the Pumpkins In The Park 5K. Anyone could dress up if they wanted to. I wore my Mickey Sorcerer ears that I got 7 years ago. Diego got to wear his giraffe costume. We had a hard time keeping it on him since it is very warm and fussy. Eric came as a runner. =) We barely arrived in time for the Kids Spooky Sprints.

I lined Diego up with the other 2 year olds. I was telling he needed to run towards Papa. Eric was at the finish line by then and waved to make sure he got Diego’s attention. Diego knew where he was. So they blew the air horn and Diego took off. He easily won his sprint. He looked really adorable running. Check out the video of Diego’s Sprint. The problem was the once he got to the finish line, he did not run towards Papa like we hoped, he just kept going. I was running right behind him. Fortunately, another parent saw what was happening, he was able to reach out and stop him. What a kid!

All the little kids got a medal which is really cute. It is the logo of the race. Of course he wore it proudly for about 5 minutes and then wanted to remove his costume.

So then the adults got ready for the 5K. I had the honor of pushing Diego in the stroller. There was a lot of runners and it was a small path were we had to start. Once the air horn blew, we waited a bit so we can get in the line. It was a great run. It was overcast and in the low 60’s. There were a couple of bottlenecks but we survived. Eric ran his race in 32:20 and I ran in 34:26, which was really slow but I was pushing a jogging stroller. =)

Afterward, we got some water, Gatorade, bananas, apples and cheese pizza. We had some free beer coupons. Eric happily went to get the beer. We stuck around for a bit. There were lots of families with their young kids like us. We are definitely going to participate again next year. It was such a great party.
