It was my cousin’s quinceanera (sweet 15th party) in Mexico. It was a blast. Diego was only 5 months old!! 😯 Now, Diego is 17 months old, my brother has bought a house & my other brother moved to Indiana. Twelve months has passed and so many things have happened since then. I wonder what we will be doing one year from now?

Santa Visit…
Eric took Diego to see Santa today. Unfortunately, I could not make it since I was at work. He was a very good boy. He did not cry at all. Here is the end result. He looks tired in the picture and he is sucking on his bottom lip but that is okay. He still looks really cute! (This is a picture of a picture. Need to scan this somehow!)

Holiday Magic…
We went to check out Brookfield Zoo’s Holiday Magic today. It was a cool 42 degrees with a slight breeze. A good night to go check the event.
When we got there, there was a leopard, a monkey and a wolf. He waived hello to the first two animals. We saw the other one in passing.
I checked the map to see what time the laser show started. The next one started at 5:30 which we only had to wait for 10 minutes. It was a cute show but it was not very impressive. Glad to know that we only waited 10 minutes for it. While walking around, we contemplated what to do next.
So we went to check out the dolphins. Since there were stairs to get to the viewing windows, I stayed behind and watch both of them go get a closer look. There were three swimming around! You can tell there was a baby dolphin in there. Diego squealed with delight. It was really cute.
So from there, we went to the Swamp. It was kinda dark in there since it was late and they turned off the lights so the animals can go to sleep. I don’t know how since there were lots of people checking them out. We saw wood storks, a crocodile, turtles, otters and a salamander. Diego was mesmerized by the otter that was swimming around.
From there we walked by the bears. We almost walked by the brown bear exhibit since he wasn’t out yet. But he made an appearance. Then we saw a polar bear. The carolers were singing to him. Kinda interesting since the polar bear looked like he was sleeping (or maybe he was just bored!). =)
Then we started to walk back to the car. We checked out the many Christmas trees they had. It was beautiful. Lots and lots of lights. You could see Diego checking everything out. Even the gross snow.
We were really only there for about one hour. It was dark, cold and it was almost time for Diego to go to bed.
As we walked by the main fountain, Eric captured the moment at the end.
Airplane watching…
After getting Diego ready for bed (after the diaper & sock change, into the pajamas & after reading his nursery book), he wanted to look outside. So I opened his shade. His room is at the back of the floor which over looks the driveway. Not an impressive view but Diego was pointing everything out. The driveway lamp, the lights from other houses, and even the dryer vent, since it was venting. I then saw a plane overhead which I pointed to Diego. Oh my, was he excited. He pointed to it and looked at me with a big smile. So then for the next 15 minutes, we just sat there waiting for planes to show up. Of course when I closed the shade and told him it was time for bed, he was not a happy camper. 😦 But it was a great few minutes to hang out and watch the planes flying by.
Teething…
Diego is doing well. Still teething. Seems to be getting three molars and four canines all at once. Since he is drooling a lot, he has some dry skin around his mouth so we are putting lotion and salve on it. Diego is chewing on his hands a lot. Poor baby! 😦 So that means that he currently has 9 teeth and getting 7 more in for a total of 18 teeth. The last 4 molars should erupt around 25-33 months. Fun!
Duck
Diego’s new word of the day. There was a duck toy on the floor and he saw it. Then he pointed at it and said “duck.” I love to see him pick up words here and there. He is getting to be such a little boy. *sigh*
Festival Of Lights 2006…
I had just found out yesterday it was going to happen today.
Every year, there isThe Magnificent Mile Lights Festival on Michigan Avenue. The parade starts from Oak Street to Wacker Drive.
The weather was cooperating. It was in the mid 40s and not too windy. We were hoping that it would not rain since we kept feeling drops here and there. We were wondering if Diego would get into it just like us. Eric is not a big fan of parades but this one is short and sweet. Plus, at the end of the parade there is a huge firework display so that is always a plus. We saw Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald and Daisy Duck, Pluto, Goofy and Chip & Dale. Diego kept pointing at everything. The fireworks were awesome.
I can’t wait to take Diego to Disney!
Eskimo Kisses…
I was trying to get Diego to go to sleep last night. So I was giving him eskimo kisses. He loved them! I would look at him and “kissed” and he would crack up. Then I would look away, Diego would turn my face so I can give him another “kiss”. It was the cutest thing.

I love being a mommy! *sigh*
Early Trick or Treating..
So we headed out to Cudahy, WI on Sunday. We went t&ting. It was much fun although Diego really did not know what was going on. He occasionally said bye and waved his hand but nothing else. I guess you can’t do much when you are sitting in a stroller. 😆 He did really well. His little pumpkin was filled up with goodies. Hopefully on Halloween day, the weather won’t be too bad and we can take him around the ‘hood.
