Diego Graduated…

From Pre-K!!! I can’t believe it has been 9 months since he started Pre-K and now he is moving on to KINDERGARDEN. He had so much fun. We love Mrs. Brown. She rocks room 105.

Today, Diego’s class did their end of the year celebration. They did a play “The Very Busy Spider” and the kids moving on to kinder were presented with certificates.

The play was super-duper adorable!!! There were 10 kids moving to kinder so they had all the speaking parts. The rest of the class were the band.

I really need to upload the video of the play but it’s about 20 min long. Diego was the owl. He “flew” into the area while hooting at the same time. He said his first line, sang the Itsy Bitsy Spider (although, he says it Ipsy Bipsy Spider) and then he said his last line. I got all teary eyed. I was so proud of him. *sigh*

Ipsy Bipsty Spider

The kids did really, really well. Mrs. Brown narrated the story and cued the kids. I was very, very impressed. Even the insect band was so cute and adorable.

Once the play was over, the future Kindergardeners went outside the room to get ready. They had made graduation caps which is what they were wearing when they came back into the room. Mrs. Brown made a speech and then presented everyone with their certificates. It was just really, really sweet.

In Thought

Once the presentation was over, we headed to the cafe and had some food. All the kids had so much fun. What a wonderful way to end the school year.

If you want to see the rest of the pictures, just click on the sun. Enjoy!

A Star Is Born…

Diego had his first theater experience and he enjoyed it. The Pre-K classrooms at his school had a musical: Goldilocks and the Three Bears. He was the Papa Bear and his line was “Who has been sitting and wiggling in my great big chair?” He was just so adorable! He was very determined to say his line just right and he did.

There were three classrooms participating and just the kids who are going to kindergarden had the speaking parts. And to be fair, there were three kids for each line in the play.

I think I see a future movie star. 🙂

Pre-K Pictures Part 2…

Well it turns out that they take spring school pictures in the spring. Heh, go figure? 🙂 They don’t use these one in the yearbook or class picture so they are more for fun. He looks so cute. He even kept his glasses on. (I did tell him he can take them off if he wanted to but he didn’t.)

Pre-K Spring Pictures

So I will probably order wallets or something. The pictures are too cute to pass. They sure know how to sucker parents. 😛

Trip To The Moon…

I know I hardly ever write about Diego and his school. Diego is progressing very nicely. He knows most of his site words (I, said, when, he, she, etc) and his writing is getting better every day. I just have to thank his teacher and her assistants. They are wonderful.

Any who, back to the title of this post. Eric received the following from Diego’s teacher who he was nice to forward to me:

Everything is really great in Room 105. I hear that you are going on the field trip with us. Diego is very excited. Today, L…, J…, and Diego built this wonderful space ship and spent most of the morning on Moon. So, he might be a bit tired this evening. (Smile) They were so detailed about this project in the block center. I took pictures, so I will share.

It just made me go awwwww. I can’t wait for his teacher to share pictures. 🙂

Accepted…

We got THE letter today. And Diego got accepted to the gifted program at his school. We are so flipping excited!!! We weren’t sure how well he did on his exam back in November but he did well enough that he got in. What a happy day!!!

I feel like I need to go out and buy him something to celebrate. 😛

Stress…

Okay, I haven’t really been stressing about kindergarden but now I am. Diego was tested for the gifted/classical program back in November. Eric applied to 20 different schools back in October. Just this week the letters were sent out to see if Diego has been accepted in any of those schools. We have only gotten two letters as of yesterday and they were both telling us that Diego was waitlisted.

Now, we found out that the rest of the letters were mailed out yesterday. I need to go home and check the mail. I don’t know if I can wait until after work. 😯 Doesn’t he know that the weight of his sister’s education is on his shoulders??? Poor kid.

Pink Eye…

Maybe? Hope not? Looks like Diego may have pink eye. His teacher called. It seems that it is going around his school. Made a doctor’s appointment at 4:30 for today. Hopefully it is not pink eye.

I just wish both of my kids and both of us were ill-free. I just hope once this passes we won’t be sick for a very, very long time. I’ll update later.

Strep Throat…

That is what Diego has. Poor kid! He threw up last night before going to bed. He felt feverish. So gave him some tylenol and went to bed. This morning, he woke up with a sore throat and feverish. He also threw up again. When he said he had a sore throat, it set off bells for us.

Eric stayed home and got him a doctor’s appointment for later in the afternoon. Diego was not feeling good at all. He wanted Mama but I had to go work. But I did talk to him on the phone. I felt so bad I couldn’t be there for him.

So later, Eric called me and told me it was strep throat. Doctor saw his throat was red and swollen. Goodness. He was prescribed some antibotics for ten days.

I don’t like when when my family is sick. 😦 I am hoping for a quick recovery.

Snow…

Finally, there is some snow on the ground. Diego was happy to see it and even said he wanted to go sledding. Poor kid. I don’t even think there was more than two inches on the ground for that.

Plus, he had to stay home today since he had a fever last night and this morning. Sent his teacher a note and she replied there were 6 kids out. That is quite a number since there is only 21 students in his class.

Hopefully, he will okay tomorrow to go school and wear his new snow boots. I am sure he’ll be looking forward to that.
