I had bought Diego these Baby Einstein Alphabooks. They are really cute. It has 26 four page books, each a letter of the alphabet. So I started with the A book and asked Diego what letter it was and he said “G.” Fine, I really wasn’t expecting to know the letters. He said the same thing for the B, C, D, E and F books when I asked him what letter they were. All of them were “G.” So I read him the G book and I asked him what letter it was. I was expecting him to get at least one right. He answered “A.” Crazy kid! 😛

First Somersault…
Diego did his first unassisted forward roll (somersault) at Little Gym! He did it on one of those wedge thingies. We were just so proud. We are going to sign him up for the next class. He is moving up from Beast (19 months to 2.5 years) to Super Beast (2.5 years to 3 years) class. He started as a Bird (10 to 18 months) first. *sniff, sniff*
So Cool…
I just read the Fleet Feet Sport’s newsletter today. They are giving the run down on the races they are sponsoring this year. Guess who’s picture made it in there??? Diego’s!!! He has a great smile as he is running towards the finish line. Here is the picture:

He is the one at the bottom dressed as a giraffe. Just in case you confuse him as the Elvis fellow. 😉
This is the picture that I keep meaning to order so I better do it soon.
Snowy Sunday…
It snowed about 5-8 inches overnight. We probably got about 6 inches. It is so pretty. I woke up to this this morning and the snow was just tapering off. It was cloudy but the weatherman said it was going to be sunny later in the day.
Our little balcony table looked like it had an ice cream cake on it:

You see the guys shoveling the snow:

Then I checked out the front. We have no side walks!

So later in the day, the sun did come out. The weatherman was right, who would’ve thought that! 😛
So we decided to go around the neighborhood with Diego in his sled.

We saw a snowman sunning himself:

We found a tiny hill (well, it is not really a hill, but it had a nice slope to it) and Diego went sledding on it:
Just about ready to come down:

Saw this pretty snow covered tree:

And it was time to go back home:

It was a great time. Who knows if we will get another snow fall like this one this season so we had to go out and enjoy it.
Wow…
That was Diego’s reaction to the Christmas tree this morning. His exact line was “Wow, a Christmas tree!” Too cute!
We finally got around putting the tree up last night. We always do but this year was so worth it with the reaction Diego had. *sigh*
Potty Saga Continues…
Another first: Diego did number 2 in the toilet. We are constantly telling him that if he feels like he has to go, he needs to tell us before he actually does. Hasn’t been really working because he will tell us right after it happens.
This time, I caught him before he went. Granted, he did not tell me but he was okay going to the “big” toilet. I sat him down and he grunt a bit and told me he did not want to go. So I just told him lets wait a few more minutes. So we did. Diego did his fake grunting a couple more times. Then the golden moment arrived: a true red in the face grunting and bingo! Gave him lots of praise and a high five.
I still have to remember: baby steps.
Sick, Sick, Sick…
We are now all officially sick. I started last week Tuesday, Diego started on Thursday and Eric got sick this weekend. I am feeling better and so is Diego. Eric is of course miserable but before he knows it, he will be okay.
I am glad we all got sick before we go on vacation. I am also secretly happy (although Eric already knows this) that Eric got sick too. All last week I was bugging him if I could purposely get him sick so he can get it now vs. later and possibly be sick during vacation. He thinks that I licked his toothbrush and that is why he is sick. Hee hee!
Only 12 more days until Disney World!!!
Thomas Troubles Ahead…
Last weekend we stopped at Toys R Us and decided to buy Diego some Take Along Thomas the Engine Play Sets. They are the ones with the plastic tracks but die cast trains. And you can store trains and the tracks within each building which is a plus.
We got him the Roundhouse Playset, the Sawmill Playset, and a few trains. He loved them. He has been playing with them then since Monday.
So I went online today and found AllAboardToys.com store. Tons of Thomas stuff. So of course more impulse shopping. I got him the Working Hard Playset, the Gantry Crane, a play mat, extra tracks and some more trains. We will probably save the Working Hard play set for Christmas.
I am in so much trouble. I can see this being the beginning of addiction. =)
Baby Steps…
As you know, we haven’t pushed potty training (or learning as some people call it now) on Diego. Yes, we do ask him if he wants to use the potty but if he says no, that is fine with us. So it doesn’t hurt to try once in a while right?
Last night, as I was getting Diego for bed, I noticed a dry diaper on him. So Eric asked him if he wanted to go to the bathroom. He said yes. At the first potty, Diego did not want to. Then I asked him if he want to go to the other potty, he said yes. And sure enough, he did his business there. I then put his night time diaper on and got him down to sleep.
Fast forward to this morning: I took off his diaper and notice that it was dry! So I asked Diego if he wanted to go potty and he said yes. Eric sat him down and he went. This is so exciting!!!
Like I said before, no hard core potty training until we come back from Disney but it is so exciting just to know that he can go.
Pumpkins In the Park…
We had a fun run at Lincoln Park on Saturday. It was the Pumpkins In The Park 5K. Anyone could dress up if they wanted to. I wore my Mickey Sorcerer ears that I got 7 years ago. Diego got to wear his giraffe costume. We had a hard time keeping it on him since it is very warm and fussy. Eric came as a runner. =) We barely arrived in time for the Kids Spooky Sprints.
I lined Diego up with the other 2 year olds. I was telling he needed to run towards Papa. Eric was at the finish line by then and waved to make sure he got Diego’s attention. Diego knew where he was. So they blew the air horn and Diego took off. He easily won his sprint. He looked really adorable running. Check out the video of Diego’s Sprint. The problem was the once he got to the finish line, he did not run towards Papa like we hoped, he just kept going. I was running right behind him. Fortunately, another parent saw what was happening, he was able to reach out and stop him. What a kid!
All the little kids got a medal which is really cute. It is the logo of the race. Of course he wore it proudly for about 5 minutes and then wanted to remove his costume.
So then the adults got ready for the 5K. I had the honor of pushing Diego in the stroller. There was a lot of runners and it was a small path were we had to start. Once the air horn blew, we waited a bit so we can get in the line. It was a great run. It was overcast and in the low 60’s. There were a couple of bottlenecks but we survived. Eric ran his race in 32:20 and I ran in 34:26, which was really slow but I was pushing a jogging stroller. =)
Afterward, we got some water, Gatorade, bananas, apples and cheese pizza. We had some free beer coupons. Eric happily went to get the beer. We stuck around for a bit. There were lots of families with their young kids like us. We are definitely going to participate again next year. It was such a great party.
