From my family to yours!
Happy Holiday!!
a new adventure everyday
Here I come. I just committed myself to run the New Orleans Rock ‘n’ Roll 1/2 Marathon on March 4, 2011.
Just wanted to thank the New Orleans Saints for making this the cheapest half marathon fee I have ever paid. Due to there fantastic wooping of the Colts (62 – 7), my registration was discounted by $55. Sweet!
So now I will wait for my friend to register so we can start looking for a room and flights. So excited!!
Oh yeah, we need to start training too. Booo! 😉
Ahh, the first day of school has arrived and gone. I have a first grader in my hands now. New building, new room, new teacher, new and old friends. He has been signed up for the after school program, chess and hip hop.
We also had a sad little girl who wishes she was going to school as well. We thought she was going to have a hard time letting him go, but she was a trooper. No tears. One more year and she will be off to pre-school. I’m excited for her.
I’m hoping a smooth year. Only 169 days left. 😛
Of his SAY of Chicago soccer league. 10 out of 12 kids came today. Not bad. You should really see his official team picture. Only six kids came and none of the coaches showed up. So I will show the last day picture instead.
They all had a great time and before I know it, 2012 will be here soon enough.
Ah, a long run. A half marathon. 13.1 miles. It was nice.
So I got two blisters on my big toes. So I got chaffed under my arms. So it rained for about half the race. But I managed to get my best time for a 1/2 marathon!!!
My time was 2:42:12. Two years ago, my time was 2:43:27. Now, if I could only train properly, I can probably shave more time. Maybe next year!
I can’t believe it has been one year since Eric was let go from his “dream” company. Funny how something like that just throws our perfect little world into turmoil. But we pushed thru as and we are in a good (and better) place now.
Thankfully, I have a job with insurance. Eric got unemployment up until he started freelancing. We used that money wisely. We didn’t overspend so we were able to keep up with all the bills. We bought the essentials we needed. The only splurge we made was for the kids during Christmas which was not too bad. We had to forgo giving anyone gifts (including ourselves) but I am sure they understood what we were going thru.
We are grateful for getting unemployment but let me tell you, I couldn’t wait for Eric to get a job to get off of it. I really not sure how some people can take advantage of that.
In the meantime, Eric worked hard to find a job. I had forgotten that looking for a job is a job in itself. He spent hours and hours looking at online job sites, networking, networking and more networking. Lots of people disappointed me knowing that Eric was out of a job and didn’t even step up. But on the other hand, there were lots of people who did reach out to him. I heart all those people.
Well, it’s a year later and Eric has a job since June 13. He is enjoying it and learning a new side aspect of his job industry. And I am so proud of him.
I do not wish anyone being unemployed. It sucks and it is very depressing. But with the right support system and the ganas, it is something that can be broken and it will be all okay.
Cuz every little thing will be all right!
Happy 6th Birthday Diego!!!
Let’s see:
height 44 1/2 inches
weight 47 lbs
Only one doctor’s visit between get well visits (he had his first ever ear infection in February), he is in great health. Let’s keep it that way.
I can’t believe he is six already. He is becoming such a great boy. He loves his sports, loves school and loves his little sister. Before you know it, he will be in college. *sigh* Must not think about it.
I love you very much Diego. Keep being who you are.
One word: Patching.
Well, he has to have his eye patched for four hours a day until his next appointment which will be August 1. It seems that his amblyopia (aka lazy eye) is very minimal at this time. I was watching the doctor trying to get his eye to “jump” but it was very sporadic. It was interesting how she was doing it too. Well keeping my fingers crossed that this will work and his eyes will align the way they should.
The hard part will be getting him to wear it. Good thing he does not have to wear it for the four hours consecutively. But he does need to be wearing it while reading or coloring or any activity that will make him focus. Watching TV is not an option. Bummer. 😆
Another thing: Do you know how hard is it to find adhesive eye patches? And how expensive they are? I found some on Amazon with free shipping. Hopefully, they will fit. *sigh*
Wish us luck!
