happy 2011…

Okay, so it’s four days into the new year but it’s the thought that counts, right?

Anywho, Happy New Year to everyone. I hope this year will be better than last. I am hoping that Eric will get a job. I am hoping to lose the extra pounds that I have added on. I am hoping that I will a million dollars. Well, I don’t have too much hope for the latter but much more hopeful for the former. 🙂

Lot of things happened in 2010. Good and bad. Let recap shall we:
January – Went to Disney World. Ran/walked my first marathon.
February – Sick
March – Sick
April – Diego got glasses
May – Status quo
June – Status quo
July – Diego turned 5, went to Michigan City
August – ran a half marathon, Eric lost his job
September – Diego started Kindergarten
October – I turned 36
November – Mia turned 2, Eric turned 37
December – Diego lost his first tooth

Like I said, good and bad happened. It could have been worse so a little bump in the road is a nice wake up call for all of us.

May 2011 be a better year for all of us.

it’s out…

Diego’s first tooth has finally fallen out. It only took 75 days since he first noticed the loose tooth.

He was messing with it all day long. Finally when I got home, he had dinner so that made it even looser. Eric tried to pull it but Diego said ouch so he stopped. We waited a bit and then I tried. And sure enough the tooth popped out with little resistance. There was some blood but Diego did not freak out. He rinsed out his mouth and tooth.

Missing Tooth

He was so excited that he finally had a tooth to put out for the tooth fairy. Yay!!!

santa…

We went to Macy’s to see Santa Claus.  Of course, Diego went up to him and gave him a hug.  Mia on the hand didn’t.  The bad news: she did not want to do anything with him.  The good news was there was no crying or screaming when she saw him.  Maybe next year, she will actually stand by him.  Wishful thinking.

Santa 2010

Diego asked for Legos, which is great because that is what Santa had already gotten for him.

Afterward, we went to see the tree in the Walnut Room.  It is beautiful.  It was white and blue.  It had some LED lights that looked like snow falling.  We took more pictures with the kids so we can use for the annual Christmas card.  This one was the winner.

Kids

I can’t wait for Christmas.  They will have so much fun.

she’s two…

She's Two!!!

Mia is officially two. Two years ago, my little girl came into my world and completed my family. I love her to bits. I still can’t believe that my little baby girl is now a toddler girl.

Happy 2nd birthday Mia! I love you so much. *smooch*

happy halloween…

Happy Halloween!

As you can see Diego was a vampire and Mia was a witch.  Cuteness all around.  🙂

We had a busy Halloween evening.  We went to the neighborhood stores for some trick or treating.  The popcorn place gave popcorn.  Jamba Juice made small smoothies for the kids.  Awesome!!! I wish the association would organize all of the merchants to have a set time for this.  I was worried that the stores wouldn’t be prepared but only two (the bars) didn’t seem to have anything for the kids.

But anywhoo, we went home to drop off the loot and take a breather (I was sweating).  Then we went to the Halloween party.  There was pizza, snacks, adult and kid beverages.  The kids were watching a movie to keep them from getting antsy.  Once the movie and party was over, off we went trick or treating.  There was about eight parents and a huge group of kids.  Seriously, this is the way to go.  Everyone keeps an eye on all the kids.  The kids made out with lots of goodies.  Which make mom and dad happy. 😉

I can’t for next year. We are already planning what our costumes might be since Eric and I want to dress up as well. Diego already said he wanted to be Harry Potter. We shall see.  We have another 365 days to figure it out.

VampireWitch

BOO!

nice…

Mia slept thru the night. Why is this so exciting? The last time she did that was May 20, 2009. This is 523 days ago.

And I am not holding my breath on this. It was nice to wake to not find her there. Let’s see when the next time Mia sleeps in her bed all night long. 🙂

happy birthday to me…

I am 36. Woot, woot! I had a wonderful day. The weather couldn’t have been any better. It was a spectacular fall day: sunny in the low 70s.

I spent the entire day with my family. It actually started very early: Eric ran his Chicago Urbanathlon. Then we went to the Pumpkins In the Park 5k race which I ran. The kiddos did their races. Mia ran 10 yards and Diego did the 50 yard one. They did wonderfully. I ran 36:25 which is not bad.

My 35th year was good. Can’t complain too much. We went to Disney in January and ran the marathon (first one ever!). I also ran the Chicago Rock n Roll half marathon in August. Although, I did spent the first five months of the year with a continuous cold that just wouldn’t go away. I guess I can complain about that one.

I hope my 36th year will be a good one. It started great!

loose teeth…

Diego was eating corn on the cob last night and he was using his side teeth to eat it. We were just looking at him and he said “My teeth hurt and that is why I’m eating like this.” So I checked his teeth to see why the would hurt and noticed that his two bottom teeth were loose. OMG! He is really excited since he has been wondering when the tooth fairy will arrive. I wonder what the fairy will bring.
