hibernation is over…

I ran yesterday. It was dark, cold, rainy (misty really but still) and windy. But I did it. Well, I was kinda guilted into running by my friend but I still did it.

Two laps around the athletic fields. I almost told my friend to cut the second lap in half but I sucked it up.

Today, my legs feel like mush. Not too bad though. I need to wake up those running muscles.

1.7 miles in 19:33 min -> It is something. Must.do.it.again!

see angie run…

HA! See what I did there? I think this is the first time I use the name of the blog as the name of a post. Cheesy? Of course.

Well anyway, I finally signed up for some races for 2011. I have a cold right now so no running. Hopefully in a week, I will finally start running a mile or two here and there.

I know you are on the edge of your seat to see what races I’m planning to do:

May 7 – Cinco De Miler – registered
May 28 – Soldier Field 10 Mile – registered
August 14 – Chicago Rock N Roll Half Marathon – need to register on Feb. 28
October 15 – Pumpkins In the Park 5K – not open
October 29 – Carrera De Los Muertos 5K – not open
November 5 – Hot Chocolate 5K – registered

I feel like I need to add a few 5K here and there. But really, I need to start running. Hopefully once I feel better and the weather stays above freezing, I will start. Really. I promise.

updates…

One of my new year resolutions was to blog more. Just like the rest of my phantom resolutions, I’m not doing very well. But the good news is I do have some updates:

  • Eric finally got a job. It is only a freelance job for the next three months but at least it is better than no job at all.
  • Diego lost his second tooth. I promise I will post a picture of that soon. He lisps just a bit but we can still understand what he is saying.
  • We had the third worst blizzard in Chicago last week, Feb. 1 – 2. It dumped 20 inches at O’Hare. In my ‘hood, it was more like 18 inches.
  • I finally signed up for my first race this year. It is the Solider Field 10 Mile. I have been wanting to run this race for ages now. I convinced a friend of mine to run with me. Training starts in March. Yippeee!

I think that is all. I do need to take more pictures of the kids. I will try to blog more. I promise, maybe. 🙂

(not) running…

Gah. The one thing that I miss is the one thing I am avoiding. All the usual excuses: It’s too dark when I get home. It’s too cold. I don’t have time. Blah, blah, blah. I really need to run. I need to get rid of some unwanted pounds. Should be easy right? *sigh*

To be continued…

happy birthday to me…

I am 36. Woot, woot! I had a wonderful day. The weather couldn’t have been any better. It was a spectacular fall day: sunny in the low 70s.

I spent the entire day with my family. It actually started very early: Eric ran his Chicago Urbanathlon. Then we went to the Pumpkins In the Park 5k race which I ran. The kiddos did their races. Mia ran 10 yards and Diego did the 50 yard one. They did wonderfully. I ran 36:25 which is not bad.

My 35th year was good. Can’t complain too much. We went to Disney in January and ran the marathon (first one ever!). I also ran the Chicago Rock n Roll half marathon in August. Although, I did spent the first five months of the year with a continuous cold that just wouldn’t go away. I guess I can complain about that one.

I hope my 36th year will be a good one. It started great!

happy october…

My favorite month of the year is here!!! Why do I love thee, let me count the ways: fall is here, Halloween, my birthday, weather is so nice and crisp, did I mention my birthday, the leaves are turning colors, etc.

Not much happened in September. Diego started school and I think there are a lot of learning pains for him. And for us as well because new experiences for him mean new parental learning for us. The hard part is knowing that there is a school Diego and a home Diego. And we are trying to get both Diegos to be the one and the same. We are working on it.

Anyhoo, enjoy October. Laters!

Summer…

is winding down.  Granted, there is about three more weeks of summer left but you can feel that autumn is starting to move in.

We’ve had our highs (Michigan City vacation) and we had our lows (Eric’s unemployment status).  Diego will be starting kindergarden in a week 🙂 and Mia will be losing her playmate ;(

Diego will be starting a new soccer league today.  Two times a week practice for ten weeks and games on Saturdays for 8 weeks.  I hope it doesn’t get to cold by the beginning of November.  I am sure he’ll have fun regardless of the weather.

I will probably start planning Mia’s birthday party soon.  We think it will be on November 7 and I am debating Dora or Backyardigans theme.  Very important decision you know.  I’ll figure it out.

It has been a wonderful summer but my favorite season is coming.  So many things to look forward to: school starting, my birthday, Halloween, Mia’s birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas and much, much, much more.
