Ran my second 5K…

I finally got around posting my second race details.
What: Frank Lloyd Wright 5K race
Where: Oak Park, IL
When: Sunday, October 8, 2006 at 8 AM
Who: Manda and I
It was a beautiful Sunday morning.  It was great running weather.  The course is very flat, no hills. This is probably why we finished it in 37:46 even though we took a small walking break to have some water. Diego and Eric were there to cheer us on. They saw us between the mile mark and the half way point. Then we saw them right before the finish line. That made me smile! Now Manda is trying to get me to run another 5k on November 5. I have over three weeks to think about it. 🙂

Happy October!!!

I know this is few days late but it is better late than never.

October 1 was a beautiful day.  It was in low 70s and sunny.  So we decided to go apple picking at Apple Holler.  It is about an hour north of Chicago. We had a great time. We had the breakfast buffet there. Diego really liked the cinnamon apple oatmeal. He couldn’t get enough. After breakfast, we went apple picking.  We rented a small wagon for Diego.  The best $2 ever spent.  We picked Golden Delicious, Red Delicious, Jonathons, and Northern Spys.  Afterward, Diego knocked out in the car on the way home.  It was a good day! Weekend Recap…

Friday –   It has been a long time since I had gone out and partied.  We went out for the end of the year softball party.  I had a little bit to drink, danced, and had adult conversation (well, if you consider yelling a “conversation”).  Then we went to eat at a 24 hour diner.  We then went to Becky’s birthday party for a little while.  We left at 1:40 am.  We were in bed by 2 am.

Saturday – Got up at 7:00.  Diego was my alarm clock. 🙂   I had to get Diego ready to go to My Little Gym.  Eric and Diego had breakfast, I had none.  Then we left.  Diego and Eric went to the gym and I went to catch the bus.  It was a beautiful day to go running.  The race started at 9:55.  There were lots of people there so the beginning of the race of a little bit crowded.  But once everyone spaced out it was fine.  I ran the whole thing.  My time was 37:18.  I was very surprised because I thought my time was going to be over 40 minutes.  I saw Diego and Eric waiting for me at the finish line.  That made me very happy.

Sunday – We basically just hung out at home.  Saw the Bears beat the Lions 34 – 7.  Go Bears!!

He’s walking!!!

Diego started walking today.  We are so happy!  He had been taking a few a steps for the past month or so.  But today he actually took more that a few steps.  He went around in a circle.  We went to the store and he walked there too.  Diego looks so cute because the more he does it the more confidence he gets.  Before you know it, he will be taking off!

Softball tournament…

Just got back from Eric’s softball tournament.  They were doing really well.  They won their first game (16-10) which I expected.  Diego and I showed up after that.  Then they played their second game.  They won that one as well.  I think the score was 6-1.  Their third game was tougher.  They lost the semi-final, 7-2.  Bummer!  This is the furthest they have ever gotten.  It is hard on Eric since he has been the coach for the past 4 years.  He hasn’t spoken about giving coaching up this year.  Last year he tried but everyone did not want him to give it up.  Plus, no one really wanted to do it either.  Well, we will see what happens.  There is always next year.

On the plus side, Diego had a ball.  He was so good.  He was busy checking out some bikes, eating, and drinking.  Too cute!   Everyone enjoys him being there.  I was hoping he would knock out on the way home and he did.  He is taking a nice nap in his crib.  I am hoping for at least an hour so.  Keeping my fingers crossed.

On the other hand…

We had a great weekend though.  This is how the weekend went:

Friday night: we went to pick up Diego’s pictures from JCPenney.  We also went to exchange some clothes at GAP Kids.  He recieved some fall stuff that probably won’t fit him when fall actually arrives.  We also went to Whole Foods to look for Yobaby yogurt.  They had a ton.  Bought enough for a month.

Saturday:  Diego had his class at the Little Gym.  He seems to get the class now.  He is more interactive with the class.  He is always a trooper.  FIL called Eric later that day.  He decided to do a cookout.  That was nice.  The food was a lot better than last time we went.  Eric bbq’ed the chicken which was delicious.  Diego had a ball playing in vegetable garden.  He was playing with dirt, green tomatos and some apples.  Then he rediscovered greatgrandpa’s cane.  It was cute, he traded a green apple for the cane.  At least he did not make a fuss when we gave the cane back.

Sunday: We went to Brookfield Zoo.  We mostly hung out at the Children’s Zoo.  Diego was able to pet a minature horse named Whisper.  We also saw the BZTV show.  We saw some animals doing tricks.  I think Diego understood some of things that were going on because once in a while he would point at something.  I was thinking about going to the parent’s house but Diego fell asleep so we just went home.

Nooooooooo!

We were giving Diego a bath today.  He was crutching down in the tub.  He grunted and he passed gas.  I told him “you better not poop!” but sure enough, he grunted a couple more times and there was poop floating in the tub!!!  😯  I just pulled him out of the tub and yell to Eric to help me (he had stepped out the bathroom for a bit).  Eric cleaned the tub and drew a fresh bath.  I was freaking!  But now, it is just funny!  Something to laugh about later.  And ammunition for when Diego bring his girlfriend over.  hehehehe

Light workout…

I went to the gym for a little bit.  I did some weight training today.  I feel like I did not do much because I did not sweat much.  But I have a feeling I will be sore tomorrow.  I hope so!

I can’t wait for tonight.  On Diego’s birthday, we had someone come over and take pictures of Diego, Eric and myself.  We are picking up the proofs tonight.  I hope I look okay.  Eric was upset because I did not fix my hair to his standards.  I had taken a shower and my hair was pulled back wet.  That was okay, I think.  I truly hope I look okay.  I don’t want to ruin the pictures.

Tipsy…

Well, it is 11:45 and i just finished a chocolate martini.  Yummy!  I feel a bit tipsy. Ok, more than tipsy.  I think I am buzzing big time.  I know I am not drunk.  It’s my only drink tonight.   I just hope I don’t tip over on the way to bed.  =)  Haven’t had a good buzz like this in a long time.

I just hope Diego does not wake up tonight because I don’t think I’ll hear him.  Isn’t that horrible????  I’m sure Eric will get up.  I hope!  Good night!
