Run For The Zoo 08…

Eric and I signed up to run the Run For The Zoo 2008 race for today. I decided that this was my last running race. I am 17 weeks along and even if my doctor says it is okay, I think it is better to stop now. I don’t want any problems later. If I decide to signed up for any more races, I will be doing the walks verses the runs.

Well, back to the race. It was a beautiful day at the lake front. It was probably in the low 70’s, sunny and a slight wind. We waited for the majority of the runners to go first because of the stoller. We did not want to run over anyone with that. Soon, Eric and Diego left my side. It was fine because I knew I was just going to home Eric back. I stopped twice: at the first and third water stations. I think stopping the second time added a couple of minutes to my time but I really need to rest and get some water in my system. After that, I just ran all the way to the finish line. I was so happy to see Eric and Diego waiting for me. We got some water, Gatorade, bagels and bananas. It was good to eat something.

Then we waited for Diego’s run. I had signed him up for the Gorilla Gallop. He did a few practice runs with Eric. Unfortunately, it was chaos when the run actually started. The had all the under 4 kids go first. Bad idea. I think they should have separated those kids as well. Under 2 and 3-4 should have been fine but no. Once that race started, there was a stampede. Kids fell, kids got scared, etc, etc. Then when they returned to the finish line, parents couldn’t find their children. It was just chaos. I couldn’t even take a picture of Diego because he just got lost in the sea of kids. But Eric found him and Diego got his medal. He was very happy and I guess that is what matters in the end.

So, I just looked up our times. My time was 40:48. Eric’s time was 36:42 which is really good considering he was pushing Diego on the stroller.

I guess, my racing season is over for now. Until next year.

So Sad…

I know I shouldn’t complain but I’m on vacation but not THE vacation we were planning for. I’ve been on vacation since May 1 and won’t be back until May 19. *sigh* We would be in Mexico right now: Enjoying the weather, visiting family and going sightseeing. Oh well, we are now planning for next April/May.

So now, I am just hanging out with Diego. Today was horrible: rainy, windy and cool. Diego had an early nap. Once he woke up, it was sunny and he went out for a walk with my aunt. At least he went out and enjoyed the day.

Zoo Day…

Eric suggested going to the zoo this morning. It was supposed to be a great morning/afternoon weather wise. It supposed to get cooler and possible rainy this afternoon.

So after 9:45, we set off to Brookfield Zoo. It was truly a great day. It was sunny and warm. We saw the giraffes, penguins, birds, frogs, crocodile, baboons and whatever other animals we saw from the tram. Before we left, my aunt bought us some cold treats.

Diego was beat. We went to McD to get some chow. Diego ate two nuggets and once I hit the highway, he was knocked out. I was just so tired by the end of the day but it was worth the trip.

Good Day…

Wow! I don’t think I have spent a whole day with Diego in a long time. We dropped Eric off at the airport this morning at around 7:30ish. Thankfully, he was able to check his luggage and make his flight. So we came back home since nothing is really open at 8 am. So far so good.

We got home, Diego watched Blue and Mickey Mouse. I stacked books that seemed to entertained him. But by the time is was 11, Diego threw his first and only tantrum of the day. So I did what I had to do, it was time for a nap.

He got up at 12:30. We ate lunch and off to Babies R Us to get some shopping done. Then we went to Factory Card Outlet to see if I could find any birthday accessories. Nada. While we were there, he saw a plastic bat and ball. So the entire time we were there, he just carried it. So it was time to leave, I had to tell him he had to leave the toy. At first, he did not want to but then after telling him that he has lots of bats and balls at home, he let go. No tantrum thrown at all. He even walked to the place where the bat went. So proud!

I noticed that there was a drive thru Starbuck so we drove up and order a Chai and a chocolate chip cookie for a special treat for Diego. He was really, really good at the stores. I gave him a piece of cookie and off we went. So I was driving on 290 going home, when Diego requests more cookie. I told him I couldn’t because I was driving. So he proceeds to tell me to stop the car so I can give him more cookie! I am in the middle of the expressway. 😆 Told him once we got home, I would give him more cookie. That made him happy and was quiet the rest of the ride home.

We got home, ate cookie, played, ate dinner, watched tv, played more and colored. Then it was time for night, night and he went right to sleep.

I think it was a good day, don’t ya agree?

Birthday Party Plans…

I can’t believe in less than four months Diego will be three. 😯 Time has surely flown by. So it is time to start planning for his birthday parties. We are doing it in the same forest preserve we did it last year at Labagh Woods. Different grove but same area. We just figured it is in a good location, not expensive to get the permit, lots of parking and everyone seems to have a ball there.

We may have something smaller a week later for Diego’s friends and our friends so it won’t be too crazy like the family party.

This year’s theme will be Mickey Mouse. I can’t to start getting stuff!

Potty Update…

I don’t want to jinx this but I think Diego is on his way to being potty trained.  He is getting better at telling us when he has to go to the potty for both no. 1 and no. 2.  He had one accident each day (Sunday, Monday and Tuesday) but none the rest of the day.  And Friday and Saturday, he took a nap and woke up dry.  And he woke up dry on Saturday and this morning then he asked to go potty when he wanted not when I asked him.

We still going to put him in a nighttime Pull Up for a few more nights.  This is very exciting news!!!

We see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Gymboree Heaven…

I am not sure why I don’t go to Gymboree and shop there more often. I just got some stuff for Diego. Love it!! It is from their Aviator line. I got this outfit minus the sandals:
Aviator Outfit
Which reminds me, I need to find some nice brown sandals to match all this clothes. I got him some roll up pants and a few more shirts. I need to get the matching socks. I am nutty aren’t I? 😀

I just checked his stash of summer clothes that he got last year and he has plenty of clothes. Hmmm, I have some Gymbucks so I’ll get a bit more and that is it. I hope!

Midnight Mystery…

For the last few weeks, Diego has been mysteriously showing up in our bed. We have no clue what time he gets there. That kid is stealthy in getting into our bed. Either that or I am just a really, really hard sleeper. 😛

He used to announce his arrival by saying “Good Morning Mama!!” That would wake me up and I would just take him back to his bed. But now, he just climbs in.

So last night, at around midnight, I felt something heavy on me. Usually it is Nala (our cat) who likes to sleep right next to me or in between my legs but this time I woke up and found Diego climbing in. I don’t think so and walked him back to bed.

Then at around 3 am, I felt the heaviness again. Sure enough, it was Diego again. I walked him back to his bed again.

Then when we woke up this morning around 7 ish, he was all snuggled next to me. I have no clue what time he showed up this time. 😆

He is getting good. At least now we know what time he has been arriving and now I can be on the look out. He must sleep in his own bed for all our sakes.
