potty…

Just potty since we haven’t starting the training yet. But I think Mia is this/close for it though.

Mia has been showing interest in using the potty lately. She has been showing the normal signs. The good thing is that when Diego’s, she does too. I am not ready to start the full on training but when she asks to use the potty, she will be catered. Not going to say no. 🙂

So for the past week or so, she has done number 1 three times in the potty. I think it shocks her the fact that she can do something like that. Today was a much bigger shock: she managed to go number 2. Diego, me and Mia were just staring at the potty like OMG. It was awesome. We did high fives and Way to Go’s. After the shock wore off, she was very proud of herself. We dumped in the toilet and had her do the honors of flushing. We all said “bye-bye” as it flushed away.

If she continues to ask to go to the potty/toilet, we will help her out. I only have one more box of diapers. And that is it. Then we move on to Pull Ups and full on potty training. Mia is growing up. How is that even possible? 😉

happy easter…

My yearly post for Easter. This year we had help dying the eggs so they weren’t as bright as normal. (Having an almost six year old, a six year old and a 2 year old helping out just throws out the control freak out the window. They win.) But this year, I did include their names too.

Happy Easter

So from us to you: Happy Easter!!!

Easter Buddies

And we miss you papa!!

hibernation is over…

I ran yesterday. It was dark, cold, rainy (misty really but still) and windy. But I did it. Well, I was kinda guilted into running by my friend but I still did it.

Two laps around the athletic fields. I almost told my friend to cut the second lap in half but I sucked it up.

Today, my legs feel like mush. Not too bad though. I need to wake up those running muscles.

1.7 miles in 19:33 min -> It is something. Must.do.it.again!

see angie run…

HA! See what I did there? I think this is the first time I use the name of the blog as the name of a post. Cheesy? Of course.

Well anyway, I finally signed up for some races for 2011. I have a cold right now so no running. Hopefully in a week, I will finally start running a mile or two here and there.

I know you are on the edge of your seat to see what races I’m planning to do:

May 7 – Cinco De Miler – registered
May 28 – Soldier Field 10 Mile – registered
August 14 – Chicago Rock N Roll Half Marathon – need to register on Feb. 28
October 15 – Pumpkins In the Park 5K – not open
October 29 – Carrera De Los Muertos 5K – not open
November 5 – Hot Chocolate 5K – registered

I feel like I need to add a few 5K here and there. But really, I need to start running. Hopefully once I feel better and the weather stays above freezing, I will start. Really. I promise.

updates…

One of my new year resolutions was to blog more. Just like the rest of my phantom resolutions, I’m not doing very well. But the good news is I do have some updates:

  • Eric finally got a job. It is only a freelance job for the next three months but at least it is better than no job at all.
  • Diego lost his second tooth. I promise I will post a picture of that soon. He lisps just a bit but we can still understand what he is saying.
  • We had the third worst blizzard in Chicago last week, Feb. 1 – 2. It dumped 20 inches at O’Hare. In my ‘hood, it was more like 18 inches.
  • I finally signed up for my first race this year. It is the Solider Field 10 Mile. I have been wanting to run this race for ages now. I convinced a friend of mine to run with me. Training starts in March. Yippeee!

I think that is all. I do need to take more pictures of the kids. I will try to blog more. I promise, maybe. 🙂

(not) running…

Gah. The one thing that I miss is the one thing I am avoiding. All the usual excuses: It’s too dark when I get home. It’s too cold. I don’t have time. Blah, blah, blah. I really need to run. I need to get rid of some unwanted pounds. Should be easy right? *sigh*

To be continued…

two years…

Finally took to Mia to her 2 year check up.

Weight 23 lb 10 oz (10%)
Height 34 3/4 in (75%)
Head 18 1/7 in (50%)

When the doc combined her stats, she is on the 5% female child chart. I would’ve never had thought I would have a tall and thin kid. But the doc did not seem concerned. He did say if we wanted to, we could continue with the whole milk.

Her hemoglobin was great. She got her tb test and her hep a shot. And she got her flu shot. She didn’t even cry at all. When the nurse was about to administer the tb test, she was like ouch even before she actually did anything. She is such a big girl.

Diego got his flu shot too. He did get some soreness later in the day. Mia didn’t seem to have any reaction to it

budding artist…

Diego drew this wonderful picture at school today:

Boy's Art

By far my favorite one yet. I love the Statue of Liberty, the Eiffel Tower and the Bean. The Statue has boobs (I think) and the Bean has the city’s reflection with people under and around it. Someone suggested to frame it. I think I will.
