Big Boy Bed…

Well, it has been done. Diego is now sleeping in a big boy bed!!! Eric and I spent all day Saturday getting his room setup.

Diego's New Bed

Eric had to go pick up the bed from Lazar’s Juvenile Furniture Store in the morning. Once he got home with the boxes, we had to dismantle the crib. Then we realized that we need to clean the room’s carpet. So, while Eric cleared it out, I ran out to Dominick’s to rent one of those carpet cleaning machines. Setup the machine and Eric cleaned the carpet.

Then, he started to put the bed together. We got him a Flexa day bed. It is low to the floor and has a railing all around the bed except a spot where he can get in. The great thing about Flexa is you can get accessories for the bed for when he gets older. It can be a bunk bed or put legs on it to make it into a loft so you can put a desk underneath it.

While Eric was at the store picking up the bed, he found a quilt, some shams and pillows that would be perfect. We wanted to find something that would go with the room but it needed to be big boyish. What he found was the Montana Kidsline bedding. It is really cute. He got the quilt, two pillows (the denim one and one that looks like the quilt) and the three throw pillows. After looking at the other stuff they have, we decided we are going to look for the hamper.

So we needed to find some sheets and a waterproof mattress cover. So off to Target we went. We got that and a clock for his room. By the time we got everything washed and dried, it was 9 PM and he had fallen asleep.

I was worried he wasn’t going to be happy but he slept all thru the night. It has only been one night so we shall see.

New Grill…

Eric went to Home Depot last night to go grill shopping. And did he ever shop.

He got us a Weber Genesis E-320 in green. He put it together this afternoon. It is now sitting on top of our roof deck enrobed with a brand new fancy Weber grill cover. I am so giddy! It is a beauty. All we need now is a new propane tank and we will break it in.

Hopefully we will be ready to grill tomorrow!

Day At The Races…

Happy 4th of July!! What better way to celebrate by going to see some horse races.

Eric had a great idea this morning. We had no idea what to do before going to a BBQ. He suggested going to Arlington Park. So we quickly got ready and left a bit after 12 PM. The first race started at 1 PM. Got there in the nick of time.

When we got there, we thought it was going to rain. There was hardly any sun. There were these really angry looking clouds moving across the sky. The good thing thought was even thought it was hot, no sun to add to the misery. The sun did come out right after the third race though. But it was fine since we were planning to leave right after the four race.

We saw 4 races. The last one was the best one because they were practicing right in front of us and Diego got see the horses.

Not a Mint Julep

While we were waiting for the races to start, there were activities for the kids. They had pony rides and face painting which Diego participated in both.

On the way home, he just knocked out.
So Tired

It was a good way of ending the day at the races.

False Alarms…

My aunt had called me yesterday during the day that that smoke alarms were going off. Completely freaked her out. I know she was cooking so I told her to open all the windows so there could be some wind blowing thru the house. We got home and all is well.

Well, this morning Eric opened the door to the balcony and the door alarm when off. I was up stairs getting Diego ready when this happened. Poor kid freaked out and held onto my legs. I had to rush and turn off the alarm so I had break Diego’s death grip on my legs. I just left him laying on the floor. Poor kid! But even when I turned the alarm off, the fire alarms kept going. 😯

Eric is pressing the reset buttons on the alarms and they quieted down for a bit and they started again. So, Eric called ADT to see what can be going on. They told him to vacuum the alarms and change all the batteries. So we did. Six alarms, six batteries. Thankfully, we had them in the house because I bought a four pack 9V batteries about a month or so again plus there was a two pack already here. Phew!

All thru this time, Diego is just clamped on me like nobody’s business. My poor baby was so traumatized during this time he was just shaking like a leaf. 😦

So I took the day off to make sure the alarms did not go off again. I wish it was on better terms this impromptu day off happened but here I am. Got to take care of the family.

Softball – Week 5

They lost.  8-6.  Not going so well this season.  They are 2-2 right now.  I am not worried thought, they still have 4 more games to go.  They need to liven things up.  Not sure what is going on with them this year.  They seem to have lost a lot of steam.

Hope the coach can pump them up soon.

Softball – Week 4

*sigh* They lost. Oh so many excuses: the field was nasty (it really was), it was cold (it was around 56 degrees), blah, blah. The team just did not look like they had it in them today. The final score: 11-2.

Although there was good news: Eric finally was able to play. His right wrist has been hurting for the past couple of months. We think is was carpal tunnel syndrome. But he got a brace for it and he had been nursing it for a while. He put himself later in the game. He did have a base hit so that is good news. 🙂

Hope next week will be a better one.

Softball Season Has Begun…

Softball season has finally begun. Eric is the coach for this co-ed softball team. They play on Tuesday nights. This is his 4th year. He wanted to retire last year but his team really likes him so he didn’t.

They played their first game today. They were down initially but they were able to get out of the hole and won, 10-8.

I went home and picked Diego up so we can go watch the team play. Diego had a grand old time as always. He was filthy by the time the game was over. The dirt on the field was all over him. His hair felt like he had a can of hairspray in there. Not giving him a bath tonight but definitely tomorrow morning.

Overall, it was a great first afternoon of softball.

Birthday Party Email…

This was an email that was sent to my good friend Jen who happened to miss Sofia’s 1st birthday party. If you don’t know my husband, well, this email said it all.

Used with permission.

Jen,

You missed it this party was off the charts!!! It was the bizomb!

The birthday girl partied so hard she passed out towards the end of the party. I mean the girl was down for the count. All the while wearing, are you ready for this?, a peek-a-boo dress. But her bodyguard was keeping an eye on the sitch-ee-a-tion. Nobody was a gonna get a peek at her boo while big daddy is around.

The celebrated brother was king of the dance floor. This kid’s got some real Happy Feet.

Now for the part Devin probably “forgot” to mention. The Divine Miss Em was riding a motorcycle. Oh, and the kid is a real swinger. A chip of the old mommy block. She loves to swing. Spin? Not so much. Reminds me off that old eighty’s tune. “you spin me round, round, baby, round, round, like a record, baby, round, round. (man those were lyrics back then)

The Divoky kids never showed. They must have been watching the Cubs trounce the Sox.

Diego Mateo was dirty! Naw, really, the kid’s bath water was brown on Sunday morning. Yeah, the plan was to hose him down as soon as we got home but as soon as we put him in his car seat it was like someone clapped their hands and shut him off for the night. Man, I love the clapper. Not the kind you get from cheap hos. Sorry, honey, I don’t mean you. You’re not
cheap. (no he di’in, yes he di’id)

Speaking of Angelica, she totally know who you are. She just remembers you as the thriller girl. check it out…

As for nudity, I’m holding out for the day when we all get our private island. Or next time we go camping.

Deck Progress – Day Five

So today after work, Eric raced upstairs to the deck to continue working on the deck. Here is his progress:

Only six more to go!

If you notice the frames on the bottom of the picture, there are boards. Eric and I (yes, little ole me) carried them on Saturday from the garage and up three flights of stairs to the roof. Let me tell ya, it was a workout.

He was able to finish drilling all the boards on the frames except on the ones that he has to cut the wood in order to get around the pipes that are up there. It is supposed to rain tomorrow so I doubt he is going to work on the roof. I know he is planning to take a few days of from work this week but it all depends on Mother Nature.

Every time I go up there it just seems like a dream that there is a deck up there. I am so proud of Eric for doing this by himself.
