Beautiful Saturday…

It was gorgeous today. It hit 76 degrees, sunny and clear. Our morning start early.

We went for a run. I ran about 2.6 miles and Eric ran/walked the 2.6 miles. Mostly ran but he stopped for a bit, but I want to add that he was pushing Diego on a jogging stroller and I wasn’t.

Afterwards, we went for a cool down walk. Went home and showered. After a while, Diego took a nap. We figured he was going to sleep for about 1 hour. Nope, he slept for almost three hours. 😯 He hasn’t done that in our presence in a long time. I was able to take an hour nap.

After he woke up, we went to the playground. Diego always has a good time. He like to play with the older kids, 3-5 year olds. Good thing they know him because they have patience with him.

Once we were done there, we walked to Cold Stone Creamery. I had the Berry Berry Berry Good and Eric had the Cookie Mintser. We shared with Diego and he loved it. He kept going from me to Eric back to me and so forth. 😀

After that, we walked around the neighborhood. We went into the UIC fields and watched the ending of the Women’s Softball game. The last swing of the game produced a three run home run. Very exciting!!

When we got home, we watched Blue’s Clues and Jack’s Big Music Show. Then Diego took a bath and off to bed he soon went.

It was a beautiful day and tomorrow it promises to be another (it supposed to hit 78 degrees).

First Movie Experience…

We ended up in Milwaukee for Easter. We went to breakfast. Diego saw the Easter Bunny there. Not a very impressive EB but at least he was not frightened.

After breakfast, we (the group) decided to go to the movies to see the Meet the Robinsons movie. It was Diego’s first movie at the movie theater. I was a little apprehensive about taking him because well you know, little kids and movies usually don’t mix. It was the first show, it was a kid’s movie and there wasn’t that many people in the theater. So far so good. Diego hadn’t taken a nap yet so we thought that perhaps he might sleep through it.

With Diego situated on my lap, the lights dim and the previews started. Lots of new kid movies coming up (Underdog, Shrek the Third, Ratatouille, & Nancy Drew). Then the light go out and a Mickey Mouse cartoon starts. MM is so cute! Then cue the movie. It was great. Diego was so interested in it he must’ve forgotten to take the nap I was hoping for. He switched laps between Eric and I a few times but other than that, he seemed to enjoy it. Every time someone would get into a car, he would wave and say “bye!”

The only drama during the movie was that he over peed his diaper. He soaked himself and me. Eric ran out to get his dry clothes. So during the movie, we had to get Diego redressed. Diego did not even complained. 🙂

Overall, the movie experience was an A plus. Great job Diego!!!

A Very Good Friday…

I am still tired from yesterday. We (well, not so much me but I helped when I could) started cooking since 7 am and did not stop until 2 pm. The menu included Lima Bean Soup, Shrimp Cocktail, and Stuffed Peppers with rice. It was a lot of food. The good think almost everyone made it: my parents, my ILs, my aunt & family, oldest brother and youngest nephew, and surprise guests: Eric’s grandparents. Everyone eat a little of everything. We had a little bit of leftovers that we ate today. We still have Lima Bean Soup and some stuffed peppers left but everything else is gone. That is always a good thing.

Diego on the other hand came out ahead. He got some Little People presents. He got the Little People™ Cars, Trucks, Planes, and Trains book, Little People Books and a Little People The Big Parade Interactive Sound Book. And he also got some $$$. Lucky kid! =)

I am not sure if we are still going to Milwaukee tomorrow. It is going to hit 40 degrees tomorrow but up there it is only going to hit 38. Still cold. Brrrr! Whatever ever Eric says it will be fine with me.

Cloth Diaper – Night 4

Diego woke up wet again. Nothing too major since Eric was the one who got him this morning. He did say the crib was not wet but his pants and onesie were. The am throwing the towel on these BG 2.0. I thought they were going to help but it just caused more headaches. Maybe I will investigate the Bummies Wraps instead.

Tonight Diego is sleeping with his overnight.

Cloth Diaper – Night 2

Diego woke up a little damp.  His lounge pants and onesie were the victims. The crib was dry so that was a good thing.  The diaper was soaked but I think it did its job.  After getting some advice yesterday, I wrapped the insert with another cloth diaper before putting it on.  I think that helped a lot.

Eric is still not convinced that cloth diapers are a good thing.  He just doesn’t want to mess with them at all.  My thing is that he hasn’t even changed his cloth diaper these past two days.  I am the one doing this.  I am going to continue doing this for another 5 days.  If it is more trouble than it is worth, then I am returning them.  But so far, the diapers aren’t the trouble, it is Eric who is.  So I wonder if I can return him and will I get my money back?  😉

My Name is Bagel…

For a couple of weeks, I have been trying to teach Diego how to say “My name is Diego.”  He gets the “My name” down pretty well but his name is a problem right now.  Eric swears he is saying “My name is bagel,” but I say no.  Why?  Because in Diego’s mind he is saying Diego but his daddy does not understand that. =)  I actually think it funny too because he really does sound like he is saying “My name is bagel.”

Must get a recording of this soon.  My poor baby!  =D

Happy Day…

And not only did he get a promotion but his two worker bees got one too. I am very proud of what he had done with his team.

We went to Heaven On Seven to celebrate. It was nummy!

The Potty Saga Continues…

As previously written, Diego has used the potty chair once. We are really not pushing this but when the opportunity arises, we go for it. Usually after we bathe Diego was bathed, we let him play in the tub for a little while. After a while, we noticed he was grunting. I hightailed it to get the potty chair from the downstairs bathroom. We take Diego out of the bath, dry him off a little bit and sit him down on the chair. He was pointing to himself and saying “poo poo” in Spanish. We were cheering him on. So we waited and waited. He was playing with some rubber “ucks” while sitting on the potty. And we waited some more. This went on for about 30 minutes. So finally Eric finally asked Diego if he wanted up. He did and we noticed that he had gone number 1. Diego peed in the potty and we did not even notice. Yay!!!

Saga continues…

Squishy…

Pregnancy Flashback:

When we first saw the baby’s ultrasound, we were in awe. It was amazing that we were looking at someone who was growing inside of me. The funny thing is we both pictured two different things: Eric pictured Tweety and I pictured ET. Don’t ask. LOL!

After getting a copy of the ultrasound, I decide to call the baby “Squishy.” Don’t know why it came to me all of the sudden and it fit perfectly. In the movie Finding Nemo, one of the main characters, Dory, finds a baby jellyfish and says “I shall call him squishy, and he shall be mine, and he shall be my squishy!”

Not sure why I thought of this line but it just felt perfect. So for the reset of my pregnancy, the baby was known as Squishy.

Happy Valentine’s Day Diego!

Stupid person…

We were driving home last night.  It was snowing and snowing.  We were driving on an unplowed side street, you know the kind the city plows last.  We were heading towards a intersection with the green light for us.  Eric was probably driving 10-15 mph.  We saw a guy who starts crossing the street without even looking to see if anyone is coming. Eric softly starts to break but he started to slide. Thankfully, the guy was already more that half way across the street but still! If he would have hit the guy, whose fault would it be? Eric’s of course.  I just couldn’t wait to get home.

I wonder what the guys was think when he decided to cross the street.  There was a bus stopped at corner so maybe he just wanted to get to it.  But still, should he just look both ways before crossing the street?  He did not even do that.  Stupid, stupid, stupid!

According to the meterologist, the storm advisery is extended from midnight to 9 am tomorrow.  I just can’t wait for this snowstorm to be over.
